Our team encourages the residents to become part of the vast Serenity Homes community which consists of healthy people with solid spiritual foundations. In partnership with Serenity Village Community Church, we have initiated various activities for our residents to serve the recovery community as well as the community at large. These activities include taking 12-step meetings into treatment and detox centers, serving food at homeless shelters, and much more. Below are some examples of service activities our residents can take part in:
Serenity Sandwiches
Every week, residents of Serenity Homes can participate in making more than 3,000 sandwiches and delivering to those in need. In addition to the making of sandwiches, we send people out to distribute them to local shelters, people on the streets, and people who are active in their addiction throughout the Twin Cities.
Serenity Shelf
On Friday nights, residents can volunteer to serve meals and fill grocery bags for families and children in our community. More than 150 meals are served and over 30,000 pounds of groceries are given away each week at Serenity Shelf.
Meals for the Homeless
The first and fourth Thursday of each month residents can help prepare and serve meals to men and women at two local homeless shelters.
Feed My Starving Children
Several times per year, Serenity Homes residents can go to Feed My Starving Children to package meals for starving children around the world. Every year our community packages over 200,000 meals.
Mission Trips to Haiti
Three times per year, residents can sign up to go to Haiti for a week on a mission trip with an organization called Healing Haiti. Each trip has proven to be life-changing, and allows for additional growth in recovery and realizing purpose in life.
